The Treaty of Montevideo, was the treaty that ended the bloody war between Brazil and Argentina. British forces and mediators were the ones who formed the treaty, and provided a neutral side to get all parties together to discuss peace (Country Studies). The treaty most importantly recognized Uruguay as an independent nation. Signed on August 27, 1828 the Treaty of Montevideo was the ultimate goal of what many had died for, it was why the Thirty Three Orientals were formed, which resulted in Brazil and Argentina recognizing Uruguay as their own state (Country Reports).
